Frequently Asked Questions

Where will my bodywork session take place?

I am located in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area.

In the studio, your bodywork session will take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet, safe room.

Must I be completely undressed?
~ Most bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, it is entirely up to you what you want to wear. You should undress to your level of comfort, or remain clothed. You will be properly draped during the entire session.  Underwear is worn during sessions.  You will remain clothed during on line/virtual sessions.

Will the practitioner be present when I disrobe?
~ I will leave the room while you undress to your level of comfort, relax onto the table, and cover yourself with a clean sheet and blanket.

Will I be covered during the session?
~ You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable and secure. Only the area being worked on will be exposed.

What parts of my body will be touched?
~ The bodywork I provide uses respectful, gentle touch to locate areas of tension in the body.
This often includes the back, diaphragm area, head & neck, limbs and extremities.                                                           Safety and comfort are always the primary focus of our bodywork sessions.

What will this bodywork feel like?                                                                                  ~
This bodywork promotes a feeling of relaxation, ease and self awareness.  As the session progresses, thoughts or emotions that have been held in the unconscious may surface.  My focus is to allow you to experience what is available for you in a container of confidentiality and  safety.

What should I do during the bodywork session?                                                                   ~ Again, no need to do anything other than allow the session to unfold within an environment of relaxation and safety.  Prior to the bodywork session, questions about this method can be answered.  We will be communicating throughout the session as is appropriate.

How will I feel after the bodywork session?
~ Most people feel very relaxed, renewed.  Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension, repetitive activity, or long-held emotional restriction.  After an initial period of feeling relaxed, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, more meaningful productivity, ease and authenticity of being.  This varies with each individual and is a personal experience.  Many sessions touch into connection with emotions that have been tucked away in the body and unconscious-for safety's sake.  These feelings are supported as you explore their expression.  You and your body are the primary guides as you discover expression of your true experience in present time.  You may wish to plan some self-care or reflective time after the session is complete.

Are there any medical conditions that would make massage or bodywork inadvisable?
~ Yes.  I require you fill out a health care/release form.  I will need to know of any health issues or medications you are taking.  If you are under a doctor or other health care provider's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for bodywork prior to your session. Approval from your provider may be required.  We can review this with the initial & subsequent intake information.
